This conference aimed to not only expose a range of views on sustainable development but also encourage students to apply them to the themes of the Rio+20 UN Conference on Sustainable Development. Talks by speakers with academcs, business, NGOs and Policy backgrounds were followed by workshops on the transition to the green economy, the institutional frameworks for sustainable development and the power of knowledge. Narrative constantly contribute to shaping knowledge. There is an entire mechanism of generation, framing, communication and interpretation of environmental knowledge that can be challenged. While acknowledging such shifts in paradigms, we invited students to debate and explore innovative ideas for greener societies and economies.
