Hello everyone!

This discussion is here to let a space for you to present yourself to the others!
It an easy way to initiate the contact together and find natural affinities! :D

First to post, first to present!

My name is Guilhem. This name comes from a region at the South of France, close to Mediterranean Sea.
I'm 23 years old and studying in Master of Business Engineering. Currently in Erasmus in Brussels at HUB.

I'm one of this platform's moderators and, more generally, SENSD Network Facilitator.
I have begun to volunteer for SENSD in November 2011, so it's pretty recent. I was seduced by the idea that we could help students of all Europe to gather around issues that are, in my opinion, the most important of our current time.

There are challenges that Humankind has to face nowadays, to make its long-term survival possible. We, students of Europe, have 1) the access to Knowledge, 2) the Power of taking the Leadership of tomorrow and 3) the technologies to gather and build a better Europe; and from here a better World.

Born in Jura (France), I have grown in natural spaces. I have been raised in the respect of my environment and always considered that I was a part of something bigger, between the ground and the sky, between the worms and the stars.

Sometimes, looking at what happens in our societies, I just can't figure out "why". I always wonder how could the things have evolved this way. I don't know what future I want to give our children, but I'm almost certain the one that this present will lead us to is not the best for them.

Things have to change, somehow. Not only by words but by actions. We are active. We are young. We have the ability to initiate great projects, great plans and to witness if they reach their goals!

I joined this community of SENSDers because I believe in our chances to weigh in the decision-making processes for the next 5, 10, 20, 50 years. I want Sustainability to become a standard because it's stupid to let the short-term rule the World. I want Humankind to elevate because we have to.

Where are the Enlightenment's philosophers? I am not an idealist. I am not an Utopian. Is it madness or immaturity to think that we can reach an equilibrium with our environment where/when we can live prosperously, happily, creatively?

Dear reader, if you still read, you know that I love the words. I expect you to love them as well because I want to know you.

It's now your turn to introduce yourself!

Nice presentation Guilhem, now we are looking forward to meeting in May!

So lets continue what you initiated!

Hi, Sensders, my name is Eymeric,

I was born in Bordeaux but lived all my life close to the sea rather than wine, I went to french Guyana for four year when I was 10 and living, I have to say, like a little monkey, made me feel nature as my habitat, I am a passionate sailor, more at ease in water than on earth, but forest and mountains are very appealing to me as well!

I am an exchange student in London since September 2010, I enjoy my stay, in a more intellectual way, but I miss large space and fresh air. However, I think London and large cities in general, are place of opportunity for sustainability, as initiatives can have such an amazing scope with millions of people living in a rather small area, and plenty of dynamic universities and businesses!

My committement to SENSD is very new, even though I have been aware of its existence since its creation, I only realized not long ago, that I could actually have an influence in the way we will shape the world for us and our descendants. I was making my small personnal contribution for a long time, mainly because of my education, scoutism, and because I found it normal, but there is more I can do and that's what drives me!

Stay positive!! we have one life, and to be honest I think it is more enjoyable being happy :) we have done mystakes, but we have plenty of opportunities to live in accordance with our environment.

Have fun!! and I look forward to meeting you!

Eymeric

Dear all,

My name is Myriam van Roeden and am a member of SENSD- The Netherlands. We're just starting the committee and I will be posting blogs on this website.

I am from The Hague, and study at University College Utrecht. I am a social science-, 3rd year bachelor student. My tracks are sustainability, geography, development studies, international relations and a tiny bit of economics. This hopefully explains my interests and motivation with respect to SENSD, sustainability and climate change.

I have lived in France (Paris), Norway (Oslo) and have just returned from a 4 month- exchange in Singapore. Nonetheless I have lived in The Netherlands for 14 years and am fully Dutch :-)

I am looking forward to work with you. Let us look forward; to a green future, inspire many and collaborate for next generations!

Best,

Myriam van Roeden
